But first, let me help you know about the smartphones and android versions that support this feature and which ones don’t.

Recent launches that allow switching to Guest Mode in Android Smartphone are: Nexus devices (Nexus 4, 5, and 6), Motorola-Moto devices (Moto X, Moto X IInd Gen, Moto G, Moto-G 2nd Gen, Moto E, and Moto E IInd Gen), LG-G3, LG-G Flex 2, Sony Xperia- Z3 and many more in the list.

Samsung hasn’t introduced this smart feature in smartphones and does not support the guest user and multiple users’ environment features in the Android Lollipop version 5.0.  Earlier we saw that the Android Lollipop update for Galaxy S4, S5, and Note 4 got rid of this feature without clarifying any reason or issues which are still expected to be introduced with a patch or modification in the newer versions of smartphones range.

But, before I start here are some very important things to be noted by our smartphone users.

The pin difference between “user” and “account”

In all Android devices, we may have multiple Google accounts including other accounts say email or Facebook account etc. All these types of accounts are associated with one user.

Earlier when Android Lollipop multiple-user environment was not introduced, there used to be only user (owner) of the phone. Now users can be multiple based on how many users can access the phone data (Similar to that of managing multi-user environment in windows).

Each user owns different multiple accounts which cannot be shared among users.

Roles and Rights of Guest Users

  • Guest user has similar permissions as of other users.
  • The guest user can add Google account to access other apps and contents along with the pre-installed apps.
  • Can set a screen lock, new guest always has to start a new session to clear all the previous settings of other guest users without unlocking the phone.

Roles and Rights of Normal users

  • Normal users (multiple users) have own identification and self-owned storage space.
  • They can have their own screen lock to protect their contents.
  • Normal users have almost the same rights as that of a device admin
  • A normal user cannot remove users.

Note: The first user setup in the smartphone is always with the owner administrator and has the right to remove the users.
